Recognizing there is much we can do to achieve this, the theme of this year\u2019s\u00a0<a title=\"Food and Agriculture Organization\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fao.org\/world-food-day\/about\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World\u00a0Food\u00a0Day<\/a>\u00a0is \u201cOur Actions are our Future\u201d and ISO has many standards to help.<\/p>\n<p>Recently published,\u00a0<a title=\"ISO\/TS 26030:2019 - Social responsibility and sustainable development \u2014...\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/standard\/71624.html\">ISO\/TS\u00a026030<\/a>,\u202f<em>Social responsibility and sustainable development\u00a0\u2013 Guidance on using ISO\u00a026000:2010 in the food chain<\/em>, provides guidelines on how an organization in the food production chain can contribute to sustainable development. It will help organizations such as food companies, farms, cooperatives, processors and retailers develop a list of activities that will lead them to being more socially responsible.<\/p>\n<p>The technical specification is just one of more than 1\u00a0600 ISO standards and guidance documents for the food production sector that directly help to end world hunger by creating confidence in food products, improving agricultural methods and promoting sustainable and ethical purchasing. These include the ISO\u00a022000\u00a0series on food safety management that covers standards related to food manufacturing, farming, packaging, catering and animal foodstuffs and feed production.<\/p>\n<p>Helping the agricultural sector implement sustainable practices and earn a livable wage is essential. The International Workshop Agreement\u202f<a title=\"IWA 29:2019 - Professional farmer organization \u2014 Guidelines\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/standard\/75808.html\">IWA\u00a029<\/a>,\u202f<em>Professional farmer organization\u00a0\u2013 Guidelines<\/em>, supports this by contributing to the professionalism of smallholder farmer organizations in emerging markets, enabling them to enter the global marketplace. It is complemented by the\u00a0<a class=\"dynlnk\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/search\/advanced-search\/x\/title\/status\/P\/docNumber\/34101\/docPartNo\/docType\/0\/langCode\/ics\/currentStage\/true\/searchAbstract\/true\/stage\/stageDateStart\/stageDateEnd\/committee\/sdg\">ISO\u202f34101 series<\/a>\u00a0on sustainable and traceable cocoa, which provides a set of guidelines for environmentally sound agricultural practices, better traceability of cocoa beans and improved working conditions for all those involved in the cocoa supply chain.<\/p>\n<p>ISO also has a number of standards aimed at sustainable and responsible production methods, such as\u202f<a title=\"ISO 26000 \u2014 Social responsibility\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/iso-26000-social-responsibility.html\">ISO\u00a026000<\/a>\u202ffor social responsibility and\u202f<a title=\"ISO 20400:2017 - Sustainable procurement \u2014 Guidance\" href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/standard\/63026.html\">ISO\u00a020400<\/a>\u202ffor sustainable procurement.
